Creativation is:

- my self-coined term - and it's my passion.

I am pleased to be able to share my creative endeavours with you through this site.

Feel free to browse the pages to see examples of my masks, artwork, wearable art and more ...

I have a HOME STUDIO in Remuera, Auckand - you are welcome to come and view my masks, art, fragrance lamps etc.  I'm flexible and available at any time by appointment, including evenings and weekends.   Masks and art are never easy to photograph, so seeing the real creations is so much better than photos!

MASKS

I am a mask artisan and one of my specialities is creating unique one-off masks made to order - either to wear to a Masquerade ball, a special themed occasion or if you require a theatrical style mask for a performance or dance that you are doing, I will be able to help you.

I also create special "Artique" wall-art masks for wall decoration.

These masks are all hand-shaped and decorated by me using traditional Venetian techniques ... with my own flavour and flair added.

I also offer a range of gorgeous metal filigree masks (imported) - these are intricate Venetian style, with crystals, and I can adapt colour tones to suit if you wish.

Also a small range of lovely lace masks which are soft and flexible, slightly stiffened to contour on the face.  These can be worn over spectacles.

Click HERE to see my Mask section. If you have a special occasion coming up, I'd love to create a unique mask for you.

URGENT ORDERS - Need a mask URGENTLY? Ring me on 021 480323 and I will aim to help!

OVERSEAS ORDERS - I create for clients outside of New Zealand, but please be aware that I need time to create the mask, as well as taking into account postage time (usually up to 10 working days) - the earlier you can contact me, the better. Payment by PayPal for all overseas orders.

"WOW" - WORLD OF WEARABLE ARTS

One of my great joys is creating a vision in my head, and then overcoming the technical challenges involved in bringing that vision to reality.  Being involved in WOW is very much all about this process.

I have had six garments over four years selected for the Brancott Estate WOW Wearable Arts Show in Wellington (2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014).  I took a break in 2015.

This year, 2016, I entered three garments - judging results are now through and one of them has been accepted as a finalist for the 2016 show.  Big relief!  So that brings it up to seven garments over five shows.

If you haven't been to a WOW show yet, get along - it is hard to describe what an extravaganza it is - I highly recommend it!

My 2014 entry was called "Visibility Wizardress" - a play on Harry Potter, it was in the Open Section and was also displayed at the WOW Museum in Nelson from November 2014 to May 2015.

My 2013 garment, "Budding Beauty" (above left), created in collaboration with artist friend Sarah Kavali, was a finalist in the Air NZ South Pacific Section.  It was on display at the WOW Museum in Nelson during 2014. It was great to have a garment in the 2013 show - its 25th Anniversary.

In 2012, I had two garments accepted.  One called "Green Green Grass" in the Air NZ South Pacific Section - this garment received an Honourable Mention, which was a great thrill. It also appeared on video stream at the WOW exhibition at Te Papa in Wellington, 2014.  The other was called "MexiKahlo" and was in the CentrePort Illumination Section (UV/Blacklight).

In 2011 I was also a double finalist at WOW, with two garments in the show. My "Hayfever Gone Haywire" garment from 2011 was on display at the WOW Wearable Arts Museum in Nelson May-November 2012. This garment was showcased in the Illumination Section (UV/Blacklight). My "Vivaldi's Muse" garment, in the Open Section 2011 (below left), had another outing in 2012 on the Aotea Stage in Auckland, worn by "Miss Italy" at the Queen of the Whole Universe Show. It also appears on video stream at the WOW exhibition at the Auckland Museum, 2015.

I have also entered various regional wearable arts awards over recent years.

Check my Wearable Arts page for more info. Also check www.worldofwearableart.com for info about the show itself.

ART

Browsing this site will give you an overview of the art I've created through the years, as well as current work.

I enjoy experimenting and developing my diverse style, and have exhibited widely and successfully over many years.

Check the ART SHOWCASE section to view samples of my art, and see the Events page for exhibition info.

If you like anything you see, please contact me to check if it is available for sale. If not, I can create something similar for you, to your own specifications.

Please contact me with any queries, or to make an order.

FRAGRANCE LAMPS & CANDLES

I fell in love with these exquisite artisan-crafted decorative fragrance lamps from Ashleigh & Burwood in the UK, and am pleased to be able to offer a range of lamps and fragrances for purchase through my website. Also replacement stone/wicks.

Lighting my lamp has become a daily ritual, and being such a beautiful piece to look at, as well as fragrant, it is always a talking point. Not only does it infuse the air with divine scent, it also purifies the surroundings, uplifts the mood and enhances inspiration.

WRITING

I am a travel writer for Destinations Magazine - this is a quality magazine, with an online profile as well as print edition. Each edition has a different theme and a team of travel writers from around the world contribute.  I have always travelled, and I have always written about my travels, and I am thrilled to now be a bona fide travel writer, able to share my travel writing with a wider audience than just friends and family!

www.destinationsmagazine.com

I have a couple of articles in the July-Sept 2015 issue "Land of the Locals", out now, and have been commissioned to write some articles for an upcoming issue, based around my upcoming trip to Europe/North Africa/Singapore/China.  This is not a "where to go and what do" type of magazine but offers reflective, informative articles with interesting perspectives. All corners of the world are explored.

Destinations represents a new breed of travel magazine.

In print and digital form, we connect divergent people, places, cultures, lifestyles, and perspectives through intelligent, thought-provoking written and visual storytelling.

Our mission is to inspire, challenge, and inform, providing a compelling medium for global engagement. We create goals to aspire to, and entice those who have an innate curiosity for the diverse world in which we live.

I also have several writing projects in progress - a novel for children, a novel for youth and a lifestyle cookbook.  It's not a recipe book, but rather a cullinary lifestyle handbook to inspire you to be truly creative in your kitchen. It's about confidence and discovery, breaking the cooking process down into elements to enable you to cook without recipes, without limits.
It's working title is
THE CONCOCTION COOKBOOK : Enhancing your Kitchen Culture and I hope it will soon become reality.

Alongside this I enjoy writing short stories, and am  also working on two other novels, one for children and one for young adults ... finding time for completion is not easy, but I hope to one day to have my books published!
